Scheme name: Ford Direct

Warranty period: A two-year unlimited mileage warranty.

What does the warranty cover? It's covered against failure due to manufacturing or material defects in most original specification components, and there are no limits on the number of claims you can make. It also includes two-years' Ford Assistance which provides roadside assistance, assistance at home and vehicle recovery.

History check? All cars are checked against the National Mileage Register, given a comprehensive HPI check to ensure there is no outstanding finance due and checked to ensure it has never been written off and is not currently reported to the police as lost or stolen.

Inspection? An initial inspection by Ford and then a full, independent inspection by the RAC. All cars comply with Ford's original specification, including tool kit, spare keys and service pack. Any replacement items are Ford approved and comply with the car's vehicle's original specification. The car will have a full service history, as recommended in the Ford Service Plan.

Breakdown cover: Two years Ford Assistance including Europe-wide cover which is valid 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Exchange policy: A 30 day exchange plan. If for any reason you wish to change your Ford Direct vehicle, you may exchange it once within the first 30 days or 1000 miles (whichever is sooner) as long as it is: Returned to the Dealer you bought it from, the same vehicle that was sold to you (including tyres and options etc), in the same condition as sold and exchanged for another car of the same or higher price. If you bought your car on finance, you'll need to settle the balance with the finance company when you make the exchange, and sign a new finance agreement.

Extras: Every Ford Direct car comes with three days free insurance cover. Plus, once the car has passed all the checks and inspections, it's issed with a tamperproof windscreen hologram, so that you can be sure it's a genuine Ford Direct car.
