VIDEO: Ford Mondeo Hybrid Estate - sorry Ford, not good enough...
Published 04 October 2019
Ford is now offering the Mondeo Estate as a hybrid...but why?
Click play below to watch Mark's video and find out why, in his opinion, Ford has got this one wrong.

Long and lowYou've been driving a SUV for too long.

To be fair to Mark, the Mondeo hybrid has come in for pretty much universal criticism from every place that's reviewed it. This is what happens when someone launches a type of car because it feels it has to, rather than because it genuinely wants to launch something new or push the boundaries of car design technology.A petrol Mondeo, particularly in Vignale spec, is a pretty decent car to drive. .

Indeed. It too is long and low as he complained about in the video.
It just feels that way because he waded his way (test drive-wise) through so many high up boxes.

Review is accurate and fair, though your disparaging comment regarding elderly anxious people, is irrelevant and adds nothing to what is supposed to be a car review. You also failed to mention that the primary purpose of this car is to mitigate the overall emissions count, that Ford have to try to adhere to, to avoid costly per car penalties. Please respond Mark.pint6x on 7 October 2019
As something Ford have produced solely to reduce their overall emissions per car average, as appears to be the case. shows a certain cynicism on Ford's part. They have done just enough to drag this product over the line without bothering to put any development into it to see if the hybrid gubbins integrates well or whether the car feels good to drive. The capacity of the battery in this car is ridiculously small when compared to other hybrids and turns a decent car (std Mondeo) into a bad one.

I have a Mondeo Hybrid Estate, the Tester in the Video must have driven a far different car to mine.As Porsche owner, I'm very happy with this car, AS IT IS NOT A DIESEL.
Diesel Cars are now linked in city areas to exacerbate Asthma, and are not helpful to the healthy progression of the unborn fetus!
There is plenty of room, and compares for space with the current Mercedes E Class.

Different FROM ... not different TO

Spot on !

If you look up official grammar you will see that 'different TO' is OK. You can use either, and before you say no-one uses 'different to', I and most of my acquaintances do. Perhaps it is a class thing?
TCCisTCC on 8 October 2019
....it may have as much space as an E Class but there the comparison ends. The E Class now is close to being an S Class and that's about as good as it gets.

Mark, I know your job is to be a reviewer & obviously a critic but spare a thought for the poor sods / engineers that are “straightjacketted” by management, design cost constraints, timing issues etc. etc. Expect quite a few of those engineers wish they had your relatively easy job that has just one or two critics ?Ol King Kong on 7 October 2019
Why should Nizzle concern himself with the lot of Ford's Engineer's & Management John? This is a consumer feature, not some Engineering monthly Institution magazine article.
No point in reviewing cars if the reviewer doesn't remain honest and critical where that is his/her assessment.
That dash / doortrim gap! my oh my. That is just unforgivable and I hope highlights where Ford really are. Deming would be laughing his head off!

It is very sad. I run a MK 3 Mondeo 2l petrol. It is a great car now 14 years old. I shall not rush out and buy that hybrid. My car carries 600KG payload and gives me 35mpg . The VED is £300 but depreciation is finished. I shall keep my MK 3 for a few years yet as it is easy to repair. The blasted tree-huggers are ruining motoring and I hate them.
