Reduced circumstance

I am afraid we need the benefit of your advice again. You seem to be
the only reliable, objective source, so please forgive us for using you.
My 86 year old father is looking to replace his 6 year-old Civic and
although there is no panic, he needs advice on a suitable replacement. He needs something to take Mother's wheelchair that is smaller than the Civic. The budget is not likely to be a problem, but he wants a well-built, very reliable, comfortable automatic with the usual "luxury car" refinements. Petrol engined is fine, but he is totally confused by the plethora of vehicles on offer and is hoping you can help whittle down the choice. Many, many thanks in anticipation, and an equal number of thanks for a super column.
