Fist among equals

The retiring manager of a car dealership in Dartford, Kent was talking to a reporter from a local paper about his life in the motor trade and when asked what was the hardest part of his job, he replied that a lot of ‘travellers’ bought new cars from him and it was very common for them to invite the showroom manager for a fight in the car park to secure the lowest possible price. The winner would keep the discount on the car, and the loser would have to lose double the amount of the discount.

In a movie directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Brad Pitt, I presume. Never heard of that one before. But if you are looking for some stolen fuel, drained from car petrol tanks in Surrey, it’s 75p a litre at a traveller’s site near Camberley. Seems that the travellers invoke ‘human rights’ and the police are unable or unwilling to raid the site. Don’t ever park overnight at the motel at Fleet Services, by the way, unless the management will guarantee that your car will remain untouched.
