Was I really banned from driving three years ago? The DVLA has no record of my ban.

I was banned from driving for three years in 2007 and my ban is about to expire in July 2010. I phoned the DVLA and enquired about reapplying for my licence, only for them to tell me that they have no knowledge of my ban, and that as far as they are concerned, I have a full clean driving licence. Also, if the police were to pull me over whilst driving, they would see the same as they are connected directly to the DVLA computers. Can you please tell me if I am actually banned or not?

You were banned, but the ban was not recorded due to an administrative error. Don't complain. Keep your nose down. Start driving again in July.
