The Passat CC features the profile of a coupe yet benefiting from four doors and four individual seats with plentiful headroom and offering a Mercedes CLS look for less money. Many of the problem areas of the 2005-2010 Passat put right. Best to think of the CC as a different car.

Volkswagen engineers could not make up their minds what to do with the engine of the Passat. At first it was longitudinal, slung ahead of the front wheels like an Audi's.
Then, in 1988, they laid it horizontal across the car, like the Golf's. Then, in 1996, they went back to Audi-style longitudinal....
