Facel Vega Reviews

For a short time during the 1950s and ‘60s, France had a flagship car that could hold its head high among the cream of the opposition. Brainchild of Jean Daninos, the owner of Forges et Ateliers de Construction d'Eure et Loire – or Facel for short – the manufacturer of high quality metal products, the Facel Vega was an impressive machine.

The company carved a reputation building complete car bodies for Panhard, Simca and Ford France, but Daninos wanted to build his own GT cars. He realised his dream when he introduced his first in-house car, the Facel Vega FV.

Good: Amazing styling and its aircraft-inspired interior
Bad: Only the FVS is what you would consider fast enough to be considered a true GT car
Good: Elegant styling, beautiful build quality, and ample Chrysler V8 power, Sir Stirling Moss had one
Bad: Huge thirst, some Detroit weave
Good: Amazing styling, interior room, simple, muscular power
Bad: Rust and rot in unrestored examples, a lack of structural rigidity
