Lonsdale Reviews

Lonsdale was a marque of convenience created by Mitsubishi for the UK market. The new company was set-up to sell Australian-built Mitsubishi Sigmas in in order to circumvent the 'gentleman's agreement; between Japan and the UK to cap sales of cars from that country to 11 per cent of the market. By selling these Austrlian cars, Mitsubishi hoped to increase its market share considerably. The plan failed - and after less than two years, Lonsdale was quietly withdrawn...

Good: Simple, rugged, rear-wheel drive saloon, available with toquey big-displacement four-cylinder engine
Bad: A sales disaster, and probably extinct in the UK
